The new West Park is open, and we have a new address!
On Monday, April 15, our new hospital building officially opened, ushering in a new era of rehabilitative care at West Park.
The ‘big move’ happened Sunday April 14, when almost 250 patients were transferred from the old building into our beautiful, state-of-the-art facility. At 7:10 am, patient Angela La Selva was the first to arrive and was clapped into the MSK unit, and over the next 10 hours the remaining patients moved in.
It was a remarkable operation, with one patient moving every two minutes, thanks to the hard work of the 600 staff, 40 volunteers and 40 movers who were onsite.
And with the opening of our new building, we have a new address: 170 Emmett Avenue, Toronto, On M6M 2J5. You can find updated information about parking, entry roads and more on westpark.org.
“We could not have reached this milestone in our history without the generosity of our donors,” says Doug Earle, CEO of West Park Foundation. “Your gifts have helped ensure that our hospital is the very best it can be for our patients – well-equipped and able to support the highest quality patient care, leading-edge research for improving treatments and care, and the education of the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
“But our work is not yet done,” he added. “The next steps in our redevelopment include creating outdoor therapeutic environments that will better support patients on their recovery journey, and adding a second long-term care centre to our site. We will continue to need the support of our donor community as we embark on this next phase of the new West Park.”
