Spotlight: Arnold Ramroop

BACK TO BEING DAD

“It was kind of difficult. At times, it was frustrating because I wanted to do things but just couldn’t.”

That’s Arnold Ramroop, calmly talking about his experience of recovering from a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage in early 2016. After the medical emergency, Arnold faced a long and difficult journey back.

“It was all leading to getting him home, back to work, back to a normal life – back to the person who is my father. Without West Park, he wouldn’t be the person he is today,” says daughter Anita.

When he arrived at West Park, Arnold was using a walker and was unable to speak. He received intensive speech pathology therapy, cognitive therapy, and physiotherapy. Says daughter Anita, “It was all leading to getting him home, back to work, back to a normal life – back to the person who is my father. Without West Park, he wouldn’t be the person he is today.”

Arnold is now back working in the family engineering business side by side with son Andrew.

“It’s a great feeling knowing that you have your father continuously there while you’re doing the day to day operations of the business,” says Andrew.  “West Park brought him back to being dad.”
