Returning to Active Life

Amputee Rehabilitation at UHN’s West Park Healthcare Centre

West Park Healthcare Centre is home to one of the largest inpatient amputee rehabilitation services in Canada, helping people lead active, independent lives after the loss of a limb. We are also one of the few facilities in Canada – and the only adult facility in the Greater Toronto Area – that has an on-site prosthetic and orthotic lab and the ability to provide amputee patients with the full continuum of care: rehabilitation, custom fitting, custom construction and maintenance/adjustments. The program is led by physiatrist Dr. Steven Dilkas.

Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation

West Park’s Musculoskeletal (MSK) Rehabilitation Service provides expertise and education to patients with complex MSK rehabilitation needs, including complex hip or knee replacements or severe trauma due to an accident, to enable them to achieve their full physical, psychological and social potential. Our MSK rehab service provides care to patients after they have been discharged from an acute care hospital, helping them recover, regain their independence and get their lives back.
